The Damonte Ranch Mustangs will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against the McQueen Lancers at 7:00 p.m. Damonte Ranch will be looking to keep their eight-game home win streak alive.
Even though Galena scored an imposing 56 points on Friday, Damonte Ranch still came out on top. Damonte Ranch walked away with a 67-56 win over Galena. Given Damonte Ranch's advantage in MaxPreps' Nevada basketball rankings (they are ranked seventh, while Galena is ranked 50th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Damonte Ranch's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jiro Basabas led the charge by scoring 20 points along with seven assists and six steals. Basabas is trending in the right direction, as he's improved his point production for four games straight. Jace Anderson was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 18 points and 15 rebounds.
Meanwhile, with a playoff game on the line, McQueen rose to the challenge on Monday. They blew past the Senators 75-55. McQueen's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Damonte Ranch has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 13 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 23-3 record this season. As for McQueen, their victory ended a seven-game drought at home and bumped them up to 10-15.
Everything went Damonte Ranch's way against McQueen when the teams last played last Friday as Damonte Ranch made off with a 79-53 win. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was McQueen's Kade Snyder, who dropped a double-double on 25 points and 11 rebounds.
