Westlake came tearing into Friday's game with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 14.6 points) and they left with even more momentum. They greeted the New Year with with a 68-54 victory over the Bay Rockets. This was payback for the Demons, who suffered a 59-55 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Westlake's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Evan Hargett led the charge by dropping a double-double on 19 points and 12 boards. The dominant performance gave Hargett a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Ryan Turk, who went 6 of 15 on his way to 19 points in addition to six boards and three steals.

Westlake pushed their record up to 8-2 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 70.0 points per game. As for Bay, their loss dropped their record down to 7-4.

Westlake will host Buckeye at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Buckeye will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something Westlake surely won't give up without a fight. As for Bay, they will venture away from home to challenge Valley Forge at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
