The Mount Juliet Golden Bears will be playing in front of their home fans against the Smyrna Bulldogs at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Mount Juliet is coming into the contest on a five-game losing streak.
Last Thursday, Mount Juliet was beaten by Father Ryan 63-34. While losing is never fun, Mount Juliet can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 284th, while Father Ryan is ranked 26th).
Meanwhile, Smyrna pushed their score all the way to 63 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a hard 77-63 fall against Glencliff. Despite running the score up even higher than they did on Thursday (61), Smyrna still had to take the loss.
Smyrna's loss came about despite a quality game from Kaleil Lyons, who scored 10 points along with 6 assists and 3 steals. Ze'keice Mccarver was another key contributor, scoring 13 points.
Mount Juliet's loss dropped their record down to 1-7. As for Smyrna, they have yet to win a matchup on the road this season, leaving them with a 5-3 record.
