Softball Recap: Aaliyah Anderson Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Northeastern

Camden County was handed a heart-breaking two-run defeat in their last contest, but they sure didn't let that happen against Northeastern on Tuesday. The Bruins' pitchers stepped up to hand the Eagles a 17-0 shutout. Considering the Bruins have won five matches by more than six runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Cayleigh Martin was a major factor no matter where she played. She tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 2-for-2. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, Aaliyah Anderson was a standout: she went a perfect 1-for-1 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaitlynn Barnes, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-2.

Camden County always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .774. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Camden County's win bumped their record up to 7-4. As for Northeastern, their loss dropped their record down to 1-13.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Camden County will face off against Lawrence Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Northeastern, they will venture away from home to face off against the Bruins at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
