It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but the Yorba Linda Mustangs had no problem doing just that on Friday. They came out on top against Loyola by a score of 17-10. The win was familiar territory for Yorba Linda who now have three in a row.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Yorba Linda to victory, but perhaps none more so than Holden Nagin, who rushed for 18 yards and a touchdown, and also threw for 100 yards and a touchdown. Chase Jones was another key contributor, rushing for 143 yards while picking up 7.2 yards per carry.
Yorba Linda pushed their record up to 9-3 with that win, which was their sixth straight at home. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 38.2 points per game. As for Loyola, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-6.
Yorba Linda will head out on the road to face off against Corona del Mar at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in California (Corona del Mar is ranked 66th, while Yorba Linda is ranked 67th). Loyola does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
