Weimar has gone a perfect 4-0 against Hempstead recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Wildcats will be defending their home field for the first time this season when they go up against the Bobcats at 4:00 p.m.
Weimar saw some tournament action on Saturday. They fell just short of Anderson-Shiro by a score of 10-8.
Brady Janecka was cooking despite his team's loss, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and one double. Another player making a difference was Ty Rerich, who went 1-for-2 with two runs and one RBI.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Hempstead, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Saturday. They came out on top against Somerville by a score of 13-8 on Monday. The high-scoring effort was just what the Bobcats needed considering they were shut out in their previous contest.
Max Lopez was a major factor no matter where he played. He struck out ten batters over five innings while giving up four earned (and one unearned) runs off nine hits. Those ten strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 4-for-5 with five RBI, two doubles, and one stolen base. That stolen base was his first of the season.
In other batting news, Ben Mayes was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. Those runs were his first of the season. Brayden DiIorio was another key player, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple.
Hempstead always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .579. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Weimar's defeat dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Hempstead, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-4.
Everything went Weimar's way against Hempstead when the teams last played back in March of 2025, as Weimar made off with a 7-1 win. Do the Wildcats have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Bobcats turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
