After seven games on the road, Western Beaver is heading back home. They will take on the Rochester Rams at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.
While Western Beaver couldn't quite beat Cornell on Friday, the two-point margin was a huge improvement compared to the 31-point loss they were dealt on Tuesday. Western Beaver fell just short of Cornell by a score of 39-37. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss Western Beaver has suffered yet this season.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Jon Backur, who scored nine points. Another player making a difference was Nathan Schwarz, who scored seven points.
Meanwhile, after a string of five wins, Rochester's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. The match between Rochester and Union Area wasn't particularly close, with Rochester falling 50-36.
Western Beaver bumped their record down to 2-13 with that defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road. As for Rochester, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-5.
Western Beaver came up short against Rochester when the teams last played back in February of 2023, falling 53-44. Can Western Beaver avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
