Even though the Stillwater Christian Cougars scored an imposing 60 points on Thursday, the Lincoln County Lions still came out on top. Lincoln County snuck past Stillwater Christian with a 64-60 victory. The win made it back-to-back wins for Lincoln County.
Lincoln County got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Tristan Butts out in front who scored 16 points along with seven rebounds. The game was Butts' third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Jacob Lane, who scored eight points along with ten rebounds and three blocks.
Stillwater Christian's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Elijah Linn, who scored 14 points along with four steals. Linn continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Isaac Shawback was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with three steals.
Even though they lost, Stillwater Christian were working as a unit and finished the game with 13 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.
Lincoln County's victory bumped their record up to 5-1. As for Stillwater Christian, they now have a losing record at 4-5.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lincoln County will face off against Loyola-Sacred Heart at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday. Loyola-Sacred Heart has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 517 points over their last seven matchups. Stillwater Christian won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Varsity Opponent at 8:00 p.m. on January 5th.
