The Borah Lions will face off against the Owyhee Storm at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The timing isn't great for Borah: they have been struggling with three straight losses at home, while Owyhee has snatched up five consecutive wins on the road.
Borah is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They blew past Ridgevue 26-14 on Friday. The victory was some much needed relief for the Lions as it spelled an end to their eight-game losing streak.
Josie Gregory made a big impact no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run over 6.2 innings pitched. Gregory was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her six plate appearances with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. That's the most RBI she has posted over her last nine games.

In other batting news, Reese Naylor and Anna Hedt did most of the damage at the plate: Naylor went 4-for-6 with six RBI, three runs, and two doubles, while Hedt went 4-for-5 with one home run, five RBI, and one double. Those two doubles gave Naylor a new career-high. Maggie McMullen was another key player, going 3-for-5 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.
Borah was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .436. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .300 or higher in four consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, Owyhee faced Capital in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Storm never let the Golden Eagles get on the board and left with a 15-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Storm, who have now won 12 contests by seven runs or more so far this season.
McKenna Schab was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Madalynn Mahaffey, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run and two RBI.
Owyhee's victory bumped their record up to 19-0. As for Borah, they picked up their first road win, bumping their record up to 4-16.
Both the two teams just can't seem to miss. Borah has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 8.8 hits per game. However, it's not like Owyhee struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 2.9 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Borah was able to grind out a solid victory over Owyhee when the teams last played back in May of 2024, winning 12-8. Will the Lions repeat their success, or do the Storm have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
