This season hasn't been kind to the Jefferson Yellowjackets, who are still winless after their fourth matchup. They ended up on the wrong side of a tough 64-38 walloping at the hands of Sergeant Bluff-Luton on Friday. Jefferson lost against Sergeant Bluff-Luton in their previous head to head back in February, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 62-21 score last time.
When it comes to explaining why Jefferson lost, one person who can't be blamed is Grace Strong. Despite the final result, she scored 19 points. That's the first time this season that Strong scored 15 or more points.
Jefferson's defeat was their 13th straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 0-4. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 29.3 points per game. As for Sergeant Bluff-Luton, their win bumped their record up to 1-2.
Jefferson will be playing at home against Sioux City East at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Sioux City East presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Jefferson in Iowa (Sioux City East is ranked 56th, while Jefferson is ranked 323rd). As for Sergeant Bluff-Luton, they will head out on the road to face off against Bishop Heelan Catholic at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Bishop Heelan Catholic is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt want to keep things rolling.
