After flying high against the Oasis Christian Lions last Tuesday, the Ridgeview Global Studies Academy Explorers came back down to earth. Ridgeview Global Studies Academy was beaten by Four Corners 58-28 on Wednesday. Ridgeview Global Studies Academy has not had much luck with Four Corners recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.
Ridgeview Global Studies Academy's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Stephanie Morales, who scored eight points along with six steals, and Chelsse Jean-Giles who dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten rebounds. Jean-Giles hasn't dropped below two steals for four straight games.
Four Corners got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Danielys Pena Ponce out in front who scored 21 points along with nine steals and six rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Pena Ponce has scored all season. Karina Cruz was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with five rebounds and five steals.
Ridgeview Global Studies Academy's loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 6-7. As for Four Corners, their win ended a six-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 4-5.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Ridgeview Global Studies Academy's homestand continues as they prepare to take on McKeel Academy at 5:45 p.m. on January 19th. Four Corners won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Jordan Christian Prep at 7:30 p.m. on January 18th. Jordan Christian Prep is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
