Softball Recap: Quartz Hill Extends Winning Streak to Three

Quartz Hill extended their winning streak to three on Thursday, bumping their season record up to 16-6 in the process. They put the hurt on the Eastside Lions with a sharp 13-3 win. The Royals might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 games by eight runs or more this season.

Dakota Ponder spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on nine hits and racked up six Ks.

At the plate, Leanna Medina and Nina Sepulveda did most of the damage at the plate: Medina went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and two doubles, while Sepulveda went 3-for-5 with one home run and five RBI. That's the most hits Medina has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Emily Cowan, who went 1-for-5 with four runs and one RBI.

As for Eastside, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-9-1 record this season. Their loss continues a trend for the team, making it four in a row.

On Eastside's side, Sayde Morgan was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. That home run was Morgan's first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Bethanie Jimenez, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one run and one double.
