They walked away with a 48-35 win over Alta Vista Charter on Thursday. Given Heritage Academy Gateway's advantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 62nd, while the Lobos are ranked 231st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Heritage Academy Gateway's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Landon Johnston, who scored 13 points along with three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Bo Dalton, who scored seven points along with two steals.
Heritage Academy Gateway's victory bumped their record up to 11-4. As for Alta Vista Charter, they dropped their record down to 5-9 with that loss, which was their fifth straight on the road.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Heritage Academy Gateway will take on the at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Alta Vista Charter, they will look to defend their home court on Monday against the Stallions at 6:00 p.m. Hopefully Sequoia Charter focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 20 last Monday.
