The Parrish Community Bulls typically have all the answers at home, but on Friday the Braden River Pirates proved too difficult a challenge. They came out on top against the Bulls by a score of 49-42. Given Braden River's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 116th, while Parrish Community is ranked 267th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Braden River's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jacobi Murray led the charge by scoring 12 points. Marcus Schade was another key contributor, scoring 13 points.
Parrish Community's loss came despite strong showings from Malakai Cuffy and Dylan Higgins. Cuffy scored 15 points along with three steals, while Higgins scored 18 points. Cuffy hasn't dropped below two steals for six straight games.
The victory (which was Braden River's third in a row) raised their record to 13-6. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.0 points per game. As for Parrish Community, their loss ended a six-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 14-6.
Braden River will take on Southeast at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Southeast is coming into the matchup on a five-game losing streak. As for Parrish Community, they will head out on the road to challenge Saint Stephen's Episcopal at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Saint Stephen's Episcopal focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up nine on Saturday.
