The Master's Academy Patriots and the Shorecrest Prep Chargers squared off in some playoff action on Saturday, but sadly the Master's Academy Patriots had to settle for second. Master's Academy fell to Shorecrest Prep 26-22. Master's Academy's loss signaled the end of their 17-game winning streak dating back to last season.
When it comes to explaining why Master's Academy lost, one person who can't be blamed is Caleb Cotton. Despite the final result, he rushed for 46 yards and two touchdowns, and also threw for 295 yards on 22 of 37 attempts.
Shorecrest Prep got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Nickolas Bearden out in front who rushed for 203 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 11.3 yards per carry. Bearden really tore up the turf during one magnificent 71-yard run. The team also got some help courtesy of Edward Mitchem, who rushed for 119 yards and two touchdowns on only 13 carries.
Master's Academy's loss dropped their record down to 11-1. As for Shorecrest Prep, the victory for they keeps them at an undefeated 12-0.
Master's Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Shorecrest Prep also has no future games currently scheduled.
