The Palmetto Ridge Bears extended their postseason success on Saturday against the Gulf Coast Sharks. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Sharks 58-55. The victory was familiar territory for Palmetto Ridge who now have six in a row.
Palmetto Ridge had a senior duo take command as Calven Charles dropped a double-double on 21 points and 11 rebounds and Sean Gomez scored 13 points along with five rebounds. That makes it eight consecutive games in which Charles has scored at least a third of Palmetto Ridge's points. Another player making a difference was Jeriah Muldrow, who scored eight points along with six rebounds.
Gulf Coast lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Collin Chrzanowski, who scored 15 points along with five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Wesley Roark, who scored 13 points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Palmetto Ridge is on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 12 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 22-3 record this season. As for Gulf Coast, their defeat dropped their record down to 14-11.
Palmetto Ridge will be staying on the road on Thursday to face off against Fort Myers at 7:00 p.m. on February 15th. Palmetto Ridge knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past five contests -- so hopefully Fort Myers likes a good challenge. Gulf Coast does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
