The Canutillo Eagles have been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They took a serious blow against Burges on Tuesday, falling 75-15. Canutillo has not had much luck with Burges recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Canutillo struggled to work together and finished the game with only an assist. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Burges racked up 13 assists.
Jordyn Hernandez was her usual excellent self, scoring 26 points along with eight rebounds and six steals for Burges. Hernandez has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last seven times she's played. Priscilla Diaz was another key contributor, scoring 16 points along with seven steals.
Canutillo's defeat dropped their record down to 16-9. As for Burges, the victory was the 13th in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 22-6.
Canutillo will head out on the road to challenge Andress at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Andress is out to stop a three-game streak of losses at home. Burges will take on Chapin at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Chapin focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 on Tuesday.
