Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Unioto to victory, but perhaps none more so than Libby Anderson, who had four digs and three aces. Those three aces gave Anderson a new career-high.
They weren't the only good servers: Unioto was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 12 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least six aces in 11 consecutive matchups.
Zane Trace won the last time they faced Westfall and Reise Grant did her part to make sure it happened again. The Pioneers put the hurt on the Mustangs with a sharp 3-0 win on Tuesday with plenty of help from Grant, who had 15 digs and three aces. She has been hot, having posted ten or more digs the last five times she's played.
Zane Trace never let Westfall on the board, but things got pretty close in the third set. The match finished with set scores of 25-21, 25-20, 25-22.
Unioto's record is now 16-3. As for Zane Trace, their record now sits at 14-4.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Thursday's match: Unioto has really dialed in their serving this season, having averaged 9.1 aces per game. However, it's not like Zane Trace struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 7.8 aces. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Everything went Unioto's way against Zane Trace when the teams last played back in September, as Unioto made off with a 3-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Shermans since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
