The Lennard Longhorns will head out to square off against the East Bay Indians at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
Lennard's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Monday. Everything went their way against Brandon as Lennard made off with a 17-0 win. The Longhorns haven't had any issues with the Eagles recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive victory against them.
Hannah Rooks and Layla Leon did most of the damage at the plate: Rooks scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3, while Leon went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Kennedy McClain, who scored four runs and stole Two bases.
They weren't the only ones working in the hit department: Lennard kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 18 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in March of 2024.
Meanwhile, after low-scoring totals in their previous three contests, East Bay brought some dynamite into their most recent contest. They put the hurt on Armwood with a sharp 20-4 win on Tuesday. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Indians as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.
Jessalyn Lugo was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with three runs, four RBI, and one triple. That's the most runs she has posted since back in February of 2024. Heidy Encarnacion also deserves some recognition as she hit her first doubles of the season.
East Bay's record now sits at 4-6. As for Lennard, they now have a winning record of 4-3.
East Bay's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Thursday. Lennard has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for East Bay, though, as they've been averaging only 4 strikeouts. Will Lennard keep running through batters, or will East Bay buck the trend?
Lennard might still be hurting after the 15-0 loss they got from East Bay when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can Lennard avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
