Football Recap: Grossmont's Victory on Thursday Extends Winning Streak to Three

Grossmont owes their defense a big pat on the back after their performance on Thursday. They blew past the Valhalla Norsemen 26-0. The result was nothing new for the Foothillers, who have now won four matchups by 24 points or more so far this season.

Grossmont had a senior duo take command as Gabi Thomas gained 117 total yards and two touchdowns and Marissa Farace threw for 139 yards and three TDs. Thomas also deserves a shoutout for her performance on D, making two total tackles and defending three passes in addition to snagging an interception.

Grossmont's defense made their presence known, laying out the QB three times. In fact, those sacks all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Mariyah Gibbs.

The win was the third in a row for Grossmont, bringing their record up to 4-1. The victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 4.3 points on average over those games. As for Valhalla, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 0-2.

Looking ahead, Grossmont will be playing at home against San Ysidro at 5:45 p.m. on Tuesday. The Foothillers' defense better be ready for this one: the Cougars have averaged an impressive 35.5 points per game this season. As for Valhalla, they will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Castle Park at 5:00 p.m.
