The Winslow Bulldogs pushed their score all the way to 58 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell to Blue Ridge 62-58. Winslow has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Kaitlyn Belone and Taylin Puhuhefvaya certainly did their best on Tuesday to avoid the loss. Belone scored 20 points, while Puhuhefvaya almost dropped a double-double on 18 points and nine rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Belone has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Jaci Gonnie, who scored six points along with 11 rebounds and seven assists.
Winslow has not been sharp recently as the team's lost eight of their last nine matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-17 record this season. As for Blue Ridge, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 12-8.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Winslow's homestand continues as they prepare to take on the Roadrunners at 6:00 p.m. on February 2nd. Holbrook is no doubt hoping to put an end to a seven-game streak of away losses. As for Blue Ridge, they and the Longhorns will face off at 1:00 p.m. on February 3rd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Hopefully Payson focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 24 on Wednesday.
