Winston Academy extended their losing streak to four on Thursday, dropping them down to 5-8-1. They came up short against East Rankin Academy, falling 8-2. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against East Rankin Academy this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 8-1 two weeks ago.
Winston Academy saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Pervis Holmes, who went 1-for-3 with one RBI.
As for East Rankin Academy, the victory was the eighth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 8-1. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.9 runs on average over those games.
On East Rankin Academy's side, Brayden Ingram made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out eight over six innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts Ingram has posted since back in March of 2025. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Bristol Bowman was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. That double marked the first that he has hit this season. Aiden Carlisle was another key player, going 1-for-5 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Winston Academy will challenge Bayou Academy at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Colts have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.75 runs per game on average), something the Patriots will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for East Rankin Academy, they will face off against Simpson Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The Patriots' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Cougars have averaged an impressive 6.8 runs per game this season.
