Basketball Recap: Southwest Skates Past Winn with Ease

Southwest won the last time they faced Winn and things went their way on Friday too. The Southwest Dragons breezed by the Winn Mavericks to the tune of 82-53. The Dragons have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won ten contests by 20 points or more this season.

Several Mavericks players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Juan Cruz-Muhlenbruch, who posted ten points. Another player making a difference was Francisco Villarreal, who put up nine points and eight rebounds.

Southwest has been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine matches, which provided a nice bump to their 14-9 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 71.2 points per game. As for Winn, they are on a 12-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-17.

When Southwest and Winn next hit the court, they'll be up against teams who recently just can't seem to lose. Southwest will try to stop Southwest Legacy's three-game winning streak when the meet at 12:00 p.m. on December 31st. Meanwhile, Winn will try to stop Jay's four-game winning streak when the meet at 1:30 p.m. on December 31st.
