Tri is 1-8 against Winchester Community since January of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Tri Titans will be staying on the road to face off against the Winchester Community Golden Falcons at 7:30 p.m. on January 26th. Both teams come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Saturday, Tri beat Oldenburg Academy 57-50. That's two games straight that Tri has won by exactly seven points.
Tri's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Josiah Cox, who scored 26 points. That makes it 11 consecutive games in which Cox has scored at least a third of Tri's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Gracen Huffman, who scored 14 points.
Meanwhile, Winchester Community was able to grind out a solid victory over Knightstown on Saturday, taking the game 56-45.
Tri pushed their record up to 8-3 with that win, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.0 points per game. As for Winchester Community, the win got them back to even at 7-7.
Tri won a match that couldn't have been any closer in their previous matchup back in January of 2023, slipping by Winchester Community 57-56. The rematch might be a little tougher for Tri since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
