The Eldred Yellowjackets will head out to take on the Tri-Valley Bears at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.
Eldred came into this matchup off a tough ten-run defeat on Wednesday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of Ellenville by a score of 10-8 on Friday. The Yellowjackets have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Evan Zgrodek was cooking despite his team's loss, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Mason Tice was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Liberty hit Tri-Valley with a four-run second inning on Friday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Bears came up short against the Indians, falling 12-2. The Bears haven't had much luck with the Indians recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.
Tri-Valley saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Thomas Verbert, who went 1-for-2 with one run. Another was Andrew Kelly, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one RBI.
Eldred now has a losing record of 1-2. As for Tri-Valley, their record is now 0-3.
Eldred's speedy runners might be the difference in Monday's contest. The Yellowjackets have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Tri-Valley, though, as they've been averaging only 0.7 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Eldred continue to outrun the ball?
Eldred beat Tri-Valley 8-3 when the teams last played back in April of 2025. Will the Yellowjackets repeat their success, or do the Bears have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
