The Whitehouse Wildcats entered their tilt with the Marshall Mavericks with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Whitehouse came out on top against Marshall by a score of 43-32 on Friday. Given Whitehouse's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 196th, while Marshall is ranked 820th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Despite the loss, Marshall still got an impressive performance from Alyssa Helton, who scored seven points along with 11 rebounds and two steals. Another player making a difference was Laci Williams, who scored six points.
Whitehouse has been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine matches, which provided a nice bump to their 20-8 record this season. As for Marshall, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-17.
Whitehouse will be playing at home against Texas at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Marshall won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Mt. Pleasant at 1:00 p.m. on January 20th. Mt. Pleasant is out to stop a four-game streak of losses at home.
