After having lost a blowout to Holyoke in their previous game, Haxtun was happy to find some success on Friday. Everything went Haxtun's way against Rocky Mountain Lutheran as they made off with a 48-16 win. That result is just more of the same for Haxtun, who also won the last time these teams played.
Haxtun's offense came in ready to rumble, picking up 40 points in the first half. Meanwhile, Rocky Mountain Lutheran couldn't get anything going offensively, leaving the score at 40-0 heading into the break. Haxtun were outperformed in the second half 8-16 but had enough in reserve to walk away with the contest.
Senior Drew Coffin, who rushed for 139 yards and 3 touchdowns, was a major factor in the success. Senior Wyatt Buccelli was in the mix, too, providing Haxtun with 2 touchdowns. The win got they back to even at 1-1. The loss started Rocky Mountain Lutheran out at 0-1 for the season.
Next week, Haxtun take on Wiley at 7:00 PM. Rocky Mountain Lutheran will be defending their home turf for the first time next week when they go up against Vail Christian at 1:00 PM.
