Dawson was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They fell 14-11 to the Ennis Lions. Even though they lost, the Bulldogs' still made a splash at the plate and bumped their average scoring up to 6.4 runs per game (they're now ranked -1th in scoring overall).
Dawson got a massive performance out of Kaylee Payne, who went 2-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. That's the most RBI Payne has posted since back in April of 2024. Chloe Boatright was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.
Even though they lost, Dawson was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .381. This was only their first loss (out of three games) when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Dawson's defeat dropped their record down to 3-7. As for Ennis, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-3 record this season.
Dawson is taking a road trip to take on West at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Dawson has given up an average of 8.5 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week. We've got a battle between Lions coming up. The two teams have allowed few runs on average, (Kaufman: 3.2, Ennis: 3.7) so any runs scored will be well earned.
