Not much got past Ian Taylor, who gave up just two hits and racked up seven Ks to keep Oscar Smith off the board. Taylor has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Logan Adams was incredible, going 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in March of 2024. Markel Smith was another key player, going 1-for-3 with three stolen bases and two RBI.
Western Branch hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least five batters in ten consecutive matchups.
Deep Run came out on top against Landstown on Thursday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run third inning. The Wildcats were the clear victors by a 7-0 margin over the Eagles. The Wildcats not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since April 29th (when they won 13-3).
Parker Noonan tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit over 6.1 innings pitched.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Henry Jennings, who went 2-for-5 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Vince Porcaro, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
Western Branch pushed their record up to 17-5 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.7 runs over those games. As for Deep Run, their record now sits at 14-8.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Western Branch has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.7 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Deep Run struggles in that department as they've been averaging 2.7 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
