Even though the Caliche Buffaloes have not done well against the Haxtun Fightin' Bulldogs recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Caliche snuck past the Fightin' Bulldogs with a 52-46 win. The win made it back-to-back wins for Caliche.
Karsyn Huss was her usual excellent self, scoring 21 points along with six rebounds and three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points she has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Ryann Svoboda, who scored six points along with 16 rebounds and three blocks.
Several Fightin' Bulldogs players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Cassidy Goddard, who scored 15 points along with six rebounds. Emily Anderson was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with six rebounds.
Caliche has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 9-5 record this season. As for Haxtun, they dropped their record down to 2-14 with that loss, which was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Caliche won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against the Tigers at 1:00 p.m. on February 3rd. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Colorado (Wiggins is ranked 104th, while the Buffaloes are ranked 125th). As for Haxtun, they won't have much time to rest: their next game is against the Eagles at 1:00 p.m. on February 3rd. Hopefully Wray focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 26 on Friday.
