The Galesburg Silver Streaks pushed their score all the way to 56 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell 66-56 to Rochester. Galesburg lost against Rochester in their previous head to head back in December of 2022, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 61-50 score last time.
Rochester was led to victory by Canon Bruce and Henry Buecker. Bruce scored 19 points along with five rebounds and three steals, while Buecker dropped a double-double on 19 points and ten assists. Those ten assists set a new season-high mark for him. Jack Melton was another key contributor, scoring 14 points.
Galesburg has been struggling recently, as they've lost seven of their last eight matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-12 record this season. As for Rochester, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-9.
Galesburg is on the road again on Friday and play against Sterling at 7:00 p.m. on January 5th. Sterling is coming into the game hot, having won their last six games. As for Rochester, they will be playing at home against Newton at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Newton presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Rochester in Illinois (Newton is ranked 135th, while Rochester is ranked 295th).
