This season hasn't been kind to the Ellicott Thunderhawks, who are still winless after their eighth game. They opened the new year with a less-than-successful 32-26 loss to they on Friday. They were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as La Junta apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January of 2023.
La Junta's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Miles Marshall, who scored nine points along with three steals. Another player making a difference was Alfred Frutado, who scored five points along with four steals.
Ellicott's loss was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 0-8. As for La Junta, their victory ended a four-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-8.
Coincidentally, both teams will both be playing Woodland Park the next time they take the court. La Junta will host Woodland Park at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, while Ellicott will head out to face them at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
