Football Recap: St. Pius X Snaps Four-Game Streak of Losses at Home

St. Pius X proved they can win big last Friday (they won by 22) and on Friday they proved they can win the close ones too. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 20-17 win over the Houston Christian Mustangs. For the Panthers, this counts as revenge for the 23-20 victory the Mustangs walked away with the last time they faced one another back in September of 2024.

St. Pius X's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Amir Parks-Brooks, who rushed for 130 yards on only 11 carries, and also picked up 33 receiving yards and one TD. Noah Carrasco was another key signal caller, throwing for 132 yards and a pair of touchdowns.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: St. Pius X was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 231 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since the start of last season.

St. Pius X's victory ended a four-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 2-1. As for Houston Christian, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Coming up, St. Pius X will face off against KIPP Sunnyside at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Houston Christian, they will head out on the road to challenge St. Andrew's at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Mustangs will need to watch out since the Highlanders have now posted at least 31 points every time they've taken the field this season.
