The Episcopal Maroon will face off against the Potomac School Panthers at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
The home team had come away the winner the last six times Episcopal and Bullis had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. The Maroon fell 5-1 to the Bulldogs on Saturday. Maroon fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team has lost against the Bulldogs since Saturday.
Episcopal saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Hill Porter, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Potomac School). Their pitcher stepped up to hand St. Andrew's Episcopal a 12-0 shutout on Monday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest victory of the season.
Owen Oliver was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over five innings pitched. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (four). He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with one double. That double marked the first that he has hit this season.
In other batting news, Brady Doster was a standout: he went 1-for-2 with five RBI and one double. Those five RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Neik Shariati, who got on base in two of his three plate appearances with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.
Potomac School always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .548. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Episcopal now has a losing record of 3-4. As for Potomac School, they moved to 3-4 with that win, which also ended their three-game losing streak.
Episcopal's speedy runners might be the difference in Tuesday's matchup. The Maroon have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Potomac School, though, as they've been averaging only 1.3 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Episcopal continue to outrun the ball?
Episcopal might still be hurting after the 12-2 defeat they got from Potomac School when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Will the Maroon have more luck at home instead of on the road? Come back here after the game to get an analysis of the match and other baseball content.
