It was a good run, but the Burroughs Burros unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Saturday. They took a 56-45 hit to the loss column at the hands of Victor Valley. Burroughs was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Victor Valley apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in December of 2022.
Several Burros players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Cory Kent, who scored 17 points along with six rebounds. Kent continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jeffrey Brady, who scored six points along with seven rebounds and three steals.
Burroughs' loss dropped their record down to 11-9. As for Victor Valley, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-8.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Burroughs and Hesperia will face off at 6:00 p.m. on January 24th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Hesperia presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Burroughs in California (Hesperia is ranked 167th, while Burroughs is ranked 713th). As for Victor Valley, they will head out on the road to square off against Barstow at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
