The Graham-Kapowsin Eagles will head out to face off against the Olympia Bears at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Graham-Kapowsin will be looking to extend their current eight-game winning streak.
On Tuesday, Graham-Kapowsin got the win against Emerald Ridge by a conclusive 14-2. The Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 contests by six runs or more this season.
Brooklyn Pettit and Riley Nieblas did most of the damage at the plate: Pettit fired off two home runs and four RBI while going 2-for-3, while Nieblas went 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most RBI Pettit has posted since back in March. Annabelle Murphy was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one home run and three RBI.
They weren't the only ones working in the home run department: Graham-Kapowsin lost a few balls and finished the game with four home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Olympia came up short against North Thurston on Thursday, falling 16-4.
Olympia saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Katelyn Pearson, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.
Olympia's loss dropped their record down to 6-10. As for Graham-Kapowsin, their win bumped their record up to 15-1.
Olympia's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Friday. Graham-Kapowsin has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 12.5 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Olympia, though, as they've been averaging only 3.9 strikeouts. Will Graham-Kapowsin keep running through batters, or will the Bears buck the trend?
Graham-Kapowsin got the 'W' when the teams last played back in March against Olympia by a conclusive 10-4 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Eagles since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
