Baseball Recap: Oklahoma Union's Luck Changes for the Better on Friday

Oklahoma Union barely beat Cleveland the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Cougars put the hurt on the Tigers with a sharp 13-3 win on Friday. The result was nothing new for the Cougars, who have now won eight contests by eight runs or more so far this season.

Bodee West made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over four innings while giving up three earned runs off seven hits (and not a single walk). He also tossed no walks, which is notable because Oklahoma Union is 5-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 8-9 otherwise. West was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one home run, four stolen bases, and three runs. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, Oklahoma Union got a massive performance out of Nathan Dean, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and one double. Those four RBI gave Dean a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Connor Pierce, who went 1-for-3 with four stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI.

Oklahoma Union always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .656. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

The victory snapped Oklahoma Union's losing streak at four games and leaves them with a 13-10 record. As for Cleveland, they are on a 16-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-24.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Oklahoma Union will host Mounds at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Cleveland, they will square off against Pawnee at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
