Chapman is 2-0 against Clearwater since October of 2018, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Chapman Fighting Irish will be playing in front of their home fans against the Clearwater Indians at 7:00 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Last Friday, Chapman lost to Hesston on the road by a decisive 34-20 margin.
Dakota Curtis put forth a good effort for the losing side as he rushed for 126 yards and two touchdowns on only eight carries. Curtis was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 50 yards.
Meanwhile, Clearwater took a serious blow against Wamego on Friday, falling 45-10. While losing is never fun, Clearwater can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Kansas football rankings (they are ranked 129th, while Wamego is ranked 44th).
Chapman's loss was their fifth straight on the road (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 2-5. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 12.4 points per game. Clearwater has not been sharp recently, as they've lost five of their last six games, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-5 record this season.
Chapman came out on top in a nail-biter against Clearwater in their previous matchup back in October of 2022, sneaking past 40-37. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Clearwater's Will Colbert, who picked up 179 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Now that he won't be playing on Friday, will it be that much easier for Chapman to walk away with another win? There's only one way to find out.
