The St. Edward Beavers will head out on the road to square off against the Chambers/Wheeler Central Renegades at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with 24 consecutive losses for St. Edward and three for Chambers/Wheeler Central.
St. Edward suffered their biggest defeat since December 5, 2023 last Tuesday. They had to suffer through a rough 61-10 loss at the hands of Heartland Lutheran. St. Edward was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 38-5.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, St. Edward struggled to work together and finished the game with only three assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Heartland Lutheran posted 20 assists.
Meanwhile, it's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 57-24, which was the final score in Chambers/Wheeler Central's tilt against Niobrara/Verdigre on Tuesday. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Chambers/Wheeler Central in their matchups with Niobrara/Verdigre: they've now lost three in a row.
Despite the loss, Chambers/Wheeler Central had strong showings from Ella Moses, who scored nine points, and Annabel Waldo, who scored eight points.
St. Edward dropped their record down to 0-12 with that defeat, which was their 13th straight on the road. As for Chambers/Wheeler Central, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-10.
St. Edward suffered a grim 40-19 defeat to Chambers/Wheeler Central in their previous matchup back in January of 2023. Can St. Edward avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
