The Pahokee Blue Devils's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their third straight loss. They took a serious blow against Leonard, falling 71-44. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Pahokee in their matchups with Leonard: they've now lost six in a row.
Despite the loss, Pahokee saw an underclassman step up: Javian Jones scored 20 points.
Leonard had a senior duo take command as Emmanuel Augustin scored 32 points along with six assists and four steals and Cory Jones scored 21 points along with six rebounds and two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Augustin has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Breche Eriscar, who scored five points.
Pahokee has been struggling recently, as they've lost eight of their last nine matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-11 record this season. As for Leonard, their win bumped their record up to 8-3.
Pahokee will play host again and welcome Clewiston, where tip off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Clewiston is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak. Leonard won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Trinity Christian Academy at 7:30 p.m. on January 19th. Trinity Christian Academy is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 61 points per game.
