Softball Recap: Starmount Extends Winning Streak to Six

Starmount entered their tilt with Wilkes Central on Friday with five consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with six. They were the clear victors by a 17-0 margin over the Eagles. Considering the Rams have won ten games by more than nine runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Sam Wall was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, she posted two strikeouts, the most she's had since back in March. She was also solid in the batter's box, earning two runs and one stolen base.

In other batting news, Starmount let Mackinzie Cox and Rachael Bates run wild. Cox went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs, while Bates went 2-for-3 with one home run, three stolen bases, and two runs. That's the most stolen bases Bates has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Carley Money, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Starmount always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .630. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Wilkes Central only posted an OBP of .250.

Starmount's record is now 14-5. As for Wilkes Central, their defeat was their 14th straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 4-12.

Starmount has already played their next matchup, an 11-1 win against Elkin on the 21st. As for Wilkes Central, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 14-3 victory against Statesville on the 20th.
