After flying high against the Charleston Tigers on Tuesday, the Riverside Bulldogs came back down to earth. Riverside fell just short of Leflore County by a score of 70-68. It was the first time this season that Riverside let down their fans at home.
When it comes to explaining why Riverside lost on Friday, one person who can't be blamed is Aaron Stewart. Despite the final result, he scored 19 points along with six rebounds. Stewart scored a full 27.9% of Riverside's points, the fourth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of BJ Amos, who scored 13 points.
Riverside's loss ended a ten-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 11-6. As for Leflore County, their win ended a ten-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 4-12.
Riverside will take on North Side at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Mississippi (North Side is ranked 122nd, while Riverside is ranked 143rd). As for Leflore County, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against O'Bannon at 7:30 p.m.
