Softball Game Preview: Argenta-Oreana Bombers vs. Sullivan Redskins

Argenta-Oreana is a perfect 3-0 against Sullivan since March of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Bombers will be playing in front of their home fans against the Redskins at 4:30 p.m. The two teams were dealt some close losses in their previous games and are determined not to let this one get away.

Argenta-Oreana easily dispatched Blue Ridge on Monday, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. The Bombers fell just short of Heyworth by a score of 11-9 on Tuesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Bombers have suffered since March 25th.

Kharma Giles was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4. The team also got some help courtesy of Emmy Reynolds, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-5.

Meanwhile, Sullivan entered their matchup against Meridian on Wednesday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Redskins fell just short of the Hawks by a score of 5-3.

J'Nai Webb made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored a run while going 3-for-4.

Sullivan's loss dropped their record down to 10-7. As for Argenta-Oreana, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-8.

Thursday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Argenta-Oreana hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .322. However, it's not like Sullivan struggles in that department as they've averaged .319. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.

Argenta-Oreana took their victory against Sullivan in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 11-0 score. Do the Bombers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Redskins turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
