The Western Hills Wolverines's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their fourth straight defeat. They took a serious blow against Mercer County, falling 65-30. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Western Hills in their matchups with Mercer County: they've now lost four in a row.
It was another big night for Ak Drakeford, who dropped a double-double on 23 points and 13 rebounds for Mercer County. That makes it three consecutive games in which Drakeford has scored at least a third of Mercer County's points. Another player making a difference was Izzie Carlton, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 17 rebounds.
Western Hills has traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last seven games, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-14 record this season. As for Mercer County, their win bumped their record up to 15-10.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Western Hills will take on Presentation at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Western Hills is facing Presentation at the right time seeing as Presentation is stuck on a six-game losing streak. As for Mercer County, they have the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome Casey County at 7:30 p.m. on February 13th. Casey County will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Kentucky Rankings (they are ranked 201st, while Mercer County is ranked 82nd).
