Virginia Episcopal School suffered their biggest defeat yet this season on Thursday. They took a serious blow against Blue Ridge, falling 83-54. While losing is never fun, Virginia Episcopal School can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 115th, while Blue Ridge is ranked eighth).
Virginia Episcopal School's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Lukas Buinevicius, who scored 17 points along with seven rebounds, and Kaloyan Kolev who scored nine points along with six assists. Another player making a difference was Ruben Velez, who scored six points.
Meanwhile, Eastern Mennonite unfortunately witnessed the end of their eight-game winning streak on Saturday. They fell to Hargrave Military Academy 72-67. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Virginia Episcopal School's loss was their fourth straight at home, which bumped their record down to 6-6. As for Eastern Mennonite, their loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 11-4.
Virginia Episcopal School beat Eastern Mennonite 74-61 when the teams last played back in January of 2023. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Eastern Mennonite's Davarion Johnson, who scored 19 points along with six rebounds and two steals.
