The Sebring Blue Streaks will challenge the Central Cobras at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Both teams are coming into the game red-hot, with Sebring sitting on six straight wins and Central on five.
If Sebring beats Central with six runs on Monday, it's going to be the squad's new lucky number: they've won their past two contests with that exact score. The Blue Streaks walked away with a 6-1 victory over Lake Placid on Friday.
Brody Hall spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on three hits and racked up eight Ks.
At the plate, Dalton Todd was excellent, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.
Meanwhile, Central got the win against Westwood on Friday by a conclusive 13-6. The Cobras might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six matchups by seven runs or more this season.
Gabe Davids looked comfortable as he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one hit any time he's pitched this season.
On the hitting side, Central got a massive performance out of Charles Singletary, who went 3-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Those four RBI gave Singletary a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Tyleb Phinizee, who scored four runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.
Central always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .514. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Sebring's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 17-4. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.3 runs on average over those games. As for Central, their win bumped their record up to 11-7-1.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Monday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Sebring has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Central struggles in that department as they've been averaging 8.4 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
