The Goshen Warriors had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 20.5 points), and they went ahead and made it five on Saturday. They strolled past New Richmond with points to spare, taking the game 64-49. Given Goshen's advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 78th, while New Richmond is ranked 602nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Goshen got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Caden Zeinner out in front who scored 25 points. That makes it four consecutive games in which Zeinner has scored at least a third of Goshen's points. Logan Haley was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with five rebounds and three blocks.
New Richmond's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Luke Wolf, who dropped a double-double on ten points and ten rebounds. Wolf has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Rylan Utter, who scored 13 points along with three steals and three blocks.
Goshen's victory bumped their record up to 19-2. As for New Richmond, they are on a nine-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-15.
Goshen will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against Clinton-Massie at 7:30 p.m. on February 16th. As for New Richmond, they will play host again and welcome Taylor, where tip off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully New Richmond focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 27 on Saturday.
