Basketball Recap: Meadowbrook Academy Piles Up the Points Against Redeemer Christian

Meadowbrook Academy hadn't done well against Redeemer Christian recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Meadowbrook Academy Mustangs blew past the Redeemer Christian Lions 61-26. The Mustangs pushed the score to 56-20 by the end of the third, a deficit the Lions cut but never quite recovered from.

Meadowbrook Academy was led to victory by Zach Ross and Beau Suarez. Ross went 6 of 10 en route to 15 points along with seven boards and five steals, while Suarez went 8 of 18 on his way to 19 points. Suarez is also crushing it when it comes to steals: he's grabbed at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Luke Charske was another key player, putting up eight points and ten rebounds.

Meadowbrook Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in seven consecutive games.

Redeemer Christian's loss came despite strong showings from Graidy Hughes and Gavin Wilke. Hughes posted eight points and six rebounds, while Wilke had four points. The dominant performance also gave Hughes a new career-high in blocks (two).

The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.6 points per game. As for Redeemer Christian, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-7.
