The Rio Vista Rams on the road again on Tuesday and play against the Golden Sierra Grizzlies at 7:30 p.m. on January 23rd. One thing working in Rio Vista's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last seven contests.
Rio Vista posted their biggest win yet this season on Friday. They took their match on the road with ease, bagging a 67-20 win over San Juan. With Rio Vista ahead 40-18 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.
Isaiah Holley was his usual excellent self, scoring 23 points along with seven rebounds and six steals. Another player making a difference was Ashlynd Rhett, who scored 15 points along with four steals.
Meanwhile, Golden Sierra scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They blew past Esparto 72-13 at home. The win was familiar territory for Golden Sierra who now have three in a row.
It was another big night for Patrick Bingham, who dropped a triple-double on 35 points, 23 rebounds, and ten assists. Bingham is absolutely dominating the rebound category: he's posted at least eight every time he's taken the court this season. Jacob Bingham was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with four steals.
Rio Vista's win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 13-7. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.0 points per game. As for Golden Sierra, their win bumped their record up to 6-13.
Tuesday's game is shaping up to be a scrappy contest: Rio Vista have been smashing the glass this season, having only averaged 35.4 rebounds per game. It's a different story for Golden Sierra, though, as they've been averaging only 43.5 rebounds per game. Given Rio Vista's sizeable advantage in that area, Golden Sierra will need to find a way to close that gap.
Rio Vista strolled past Golden Sierra when the teams last played on January 5th by a score of 59-41. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Bingham, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 26 rebounds. Now that he's got a second chance to win this matchup, will Rio Vista still be able to contain him? There's only one way to find out.
