2A District 1 recap Oct. 9, 2012
Tohatchi extended the longest winning streak in 2A District 1 this week by beating Wingate, 38-20. This was the team's fifth consecutive win.
Ramah took down Navajo Prep 54-16 last week, the largest margin of any game. Tyrell Morgan threw for 193 yards and three touchdowns and ran for 37 yards in the win.
The Mustangs' offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. On the ground Tyrell Daniels chipped in 159 yards. Todd Estate helped Ramah's passing attack out by catching five balls for 78 yards.
Matthew Barton was the best wideout in the league this week as Ramah topped the Eagles. Barton tallied 13 receptions for 98 yards.
Ramah's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Mustangs feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Morgan has thrown for 1038 yards and 17 touchdowns this season, while Barton has 31 catches for 388 yards. Daniels leads the league in rushing with 514 yards.
A big matchup in 2A District 1 this week will be when Crownpoint takes on Carlett Daniels' team. At the moment, the Eagles are in fourth, while the Mustangs are in second.
Ramah led the league in scoring this week after putting up 54 points on Navajo Prep. Morgan in the win.
